I’m out of words … Thank you Isaac for this great combination of basics .. it’s actually not my first time for me watching a basic course of 3D Max , but I’ve found your series easy , simple , and right on the spot …
Thank you Isaac .
Hi Isaac
Really great tutorials are you planning any more? Just one question how do you make the maps that you render onto the model that bring them to life. Is this done in photoshop.
Many thanks Matt
Hi Matt, thanks for taking time to leave a comment. There are a few techniques for creating textures. I pick the best method for the requirements of the final asset. For the simple cartoon characters near the bottom of my portfolio, the textures are hand painted in photoshop. For more complex assets where a high poly model is involved, I create a few base textures using a process called Render To Texture in 3DS Max, then build complex texture sets in photoshop. Look for the 10th max tutorial for more information. http://www.isaacoster.com/?page_id=1442. I have recently begun using dDo in my professional work. For some of the pieces at the top of my portfolio, the image is a composite of a bunch of difference materials rendered using Zbrush. I probably won’t be doing more 3DS Max tutorials, but I am planning to add several more Zbrush tutorials over the next few weeks. Please keep an eye out for updates!
Thanks Isaac
I have found your 3ds max tutorials very helpful and thanks for taking the time to reply. Matt
Great tutorials.
Hi Isaac!
I normally don’t leave comments for people/sites/products/etc, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the zBrush tutorial series you had on Bad King. You taught me so much! I love your way of teaching also. Are there other zBrush tutorials you’ve done? I really enjoy learning 3D modeling and now I’m diving into zBrush. I go through tutorials pretty quick, so I’m always looking for the next one to watch. It’s hard for me to find teachers that I actually like, too. Well, I’m rambling now. I just wanted to let you know that you really helped me in developing my skill, so THANKS! 🙂
Thank you for the comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial series. I have several free tutorials available on my vimeo page, located here: https://vimeo.com/isaacoster, and some additional tutorial series available on my gumroad page, located here: http://www.gumroad.com/isaacoster
